5 reasons to travel to Mongolia once in your life
Have you heard of Mongolia? Are you one of making trips to distant and unknown lands?
If you have always dreamed of reaching those corners of the world where few go, if you are passionate about history, nature and cultures, or if you simply want to live a different adventure, you should travel to Mongolia this 2023 -or sometime in the life.
Here we tell you why.

1. Its history: Mongolia is a journey through time
Surely you have ever heard of Genghis Khan, or of the Mongol empire. In case you didn’t know, the Mongol Empire has been one of the most important and largest empires in all of human history and Genghis Khan was its best-known founder and conqueror.
The story of this warrior who went from being a slave to an emperor, and how he managed to conquer a large part of the planet and the Asian and European continents, is incredible. Although there are various theories and all kinds of comments towards the management and figure of him, the importance in the universal history of this character is irrefutable.
To understand more about his achievements, the unification of the Mongol Empire in the 13th century, and how his story remains a part of society to this day, you have to travel to Mongolia. Because there is no better way to learn something than being there, in the place where the events happened, feeling part of that same story and seeing with your own eyes the places you have always imagined.

2. Traveling to Mongolia is exploring the unexplored
Probably, Mongolia is one of the few places left in the world where tourism has not yet arrived in a massive way, so traveling to Mongolia is traveling a bit, into the unknown.
Touring its impressive landscapes, discovering its culture, its history and above all, connecting with its people in a quiet environment, where you can really enjoy every moment without rushing and without tons of people around you, is a unique privilege today. .
Traveling to Mongolia is traveling again as before, like when you arrived at a place without really knowing what awaited you, without having seen hundreds of thousands of photos on social networks or advertisements. It is to meet again with what surprises us and that even exceeds our best fantasies.

3. Be part of their traditions: witness the Festival of the Eagles!
And when it comes to photographs, probably the most popular when we talk about Mongolia is that of hunters with eagles.
But do not think that it is so easy to find them, because the practice of hunting with eagles is a fundamental part of the tradition of the nomadic people of eastern Mongolia: the Kazakhs. To look for its footprint you must know where and when to go and with luck, you will be able to be part of one of its parties and festivals, in which the different communities gather in one place to celebrate their traditions.
During our group trip to Mongolia in September 2023, we will have the chance to be part of the Lake Toba eagle festival, an unmissable event that will remain etched in your memory forever.

4. Discover its indomitable nature
Mongolia is a huge country, but despite its vast area, the total population does not exceed 3.3 million inhabitants. Considering that almost 50% live in the capital Ulaan Bator, the rest of the country is almost depopulated, which means that nature expresses itself and expands in a totally wild way throughout almost the entire territory.
Steppes covered in endless green grass, mountains, volcanoes, deserts, rivers, waterfalls and lakes are part of the Mongolian landscape. There is so much natural diversity that it is difficult to cover it all, however, some of the essential natural places to visit when traveling to Mongolia are:
The Gobi Desert, one of the largest and most important deserts in the world where some of the oldest fossil discoveries in history were made.
Tsagaan Suvarga, a mountain range with spectacular formations of colors and shapes.
Khustain Nuruu National Park, one of the places where you can find a large amount of wildlife, including the Przewalski horse or better known in Mongolia as takhi, the only direct descendant of the domesticated horse that exists in the world today.

5. Sharing with its ancestral inhabitants: the nomads
Did you know that more than 30% of the Mongolian population is actively nomadic today? To understand the history of Mongolia, one must understand its people: the nomads.
For at least 5,000 years the nomadic tribes of the Mongolian territory have moved between its landscapes. United, separate, as an empire or simply as a small clan, the Mongolian nomads have maintained their customs and traditions despite the years, wars and political and social changes.
This is probably one of the most important reasons why every person should travel to Mongolia at some point in their life.

Sharing with their ancestral people, understanding their way of life, sleeping in a Ger -or typical yurt-, listening to their songs and stories while you receive a glass of horse milk, will become those experiences that change your life.
Because if we had to choose just one reason why we love to travel, it would be those moments: when despite the differences and how far we may be, we connect.
Because traveling is more than anything, embracing the difference. Realizing that what separates us is what at the same time brought us to that moment of union, and it is those smiles and those hugs at the end of a shared moment that remain in our hearts forever.
